Did You Know...

2011 was the year of the Ginger...

Michael Fassbender and Jessica Chastain virtually came out of nowhere to have some of the most critically acclaimed performances in films like "Shame", "A Dangerous Method", and "Jane Erye" for Fassbender and "The Help" "The Tree of Life", "Take Shelter", and "The Debt" for Chastain. Both garnered a number of award nominations (including Golden Globes). Fassbender just got his first BAFTA nom for Best Actor and Chastain nabbed her first Oscar nomination for Supporting Actress.

Emma Stone became a mainstream leading lady with a move from supporting roles in "Superbad" and "Zombieland" to "Crazy, Stupid, Love" and the Oscar-nominated "The Help". She's gearing up for another huge year, having spent 2011 filming two of the most anticipated films of 2012 "The Amazing Spiderman" and "The Gangster Squad".

Damian Lewis landed a starring role in the amazing series "Homeland" and is well on his way to all sorts of accolades. He's tremendous as a recovered military man with a dangerous secret.

Lindsay Lohan was at the top of the gossip heap with her legal dramas and crazy antics. She hasn't actually been a red-head all year, which is probably a good thing for the ginger community. Here's hoping that she gets some sense slapped into her. Get some serious help, Lohan!!!

Gingers RULE... sometimes

Did You Know...

... Rachel McAdams donned a wig in the film "Mean Girls". Her hair was shoulder-length because she had just finished filming "The Hot Chick".

Some other wig-outs in films: Reese Witherspoon at the end of "Legally Blonde" because the scene was filmed later on and she had already cut her hair for "Sweet Home Alabama". Elizabeth Taylor in the 1949-version of "Little Women". Jennifer Aniston in "Horrible Bosses" (and might we add that she should consider dark brown because it looks fabulous on her). Bryce Dallas Howard in "Eclipse" (Nikki Reed and Ashley Greene also wear pieces for the film series). Angelina Jolie donned a few in "Salt". Emma Stone in "The Help".

Performance of the Day

Actor: PATRICIA CLARKSON
Film: "Easy A"
Character: Rosemary
Year: 2010

I have to say it... I heart Patricia Clarkson. She's one of the best actors working today. In the comedy "Easy A", she costars as Emma Stone's mother, Rosemary. It's her back and forth reportoire with Stanley Tucci (who plays her husband) that really makes this movie better than the average comedy. Clarkson is funny, witty, sweet, and refreshing.

Double Take

Rising star Emma Stone seems to be moving into former 'It' girl, Lindsay Lohan's space. Lohan has been out of the game for awhile (we all know why) and Stone is quickly becoming the girl to watch.

*** Emma Stone is best known for her roles in "Superbad", "Easy A", "Zombieland", and will be taking over the role of Gwen Stacy in the new "Spiderman" film. Lindsay Lohan was best known for her roles in "The Parent Trap", "Freaky Friday", and "Mean Girls".

Skip It

Film: THE HOUSE BUNNY
Director: Fred Wolf
Actors: Anna Faris, Emma Stone, Beverly D'Angelo, Kat Dennings, Colin Hanks, Monet Mazur, Rumer Willis, Katharine McPhee, Christopher McDonald, Hugh Hefner
Year: 2008

Although I love Anna Faris... and Emma Stone is super cute, this movie did not cut it. First off, I'm not sure what Faris is thinking, but the fake boobs and plastic face she's been sporting in the last few years are NOT attractive. Why couldn't she stay the same? She was the fun, cute, pretty, hilarious girl (from "Smiley Face" "Lost in Translation", and "Scary Movie") that we all liked. Secondly, the script is ridiculously dumb. I couldn't find any funny parts and this is a freaking... comedy. I might have giggled at the scene where Faris repeats names in an Exorcist-like voice, but I already saw that in every damn trailer. I am still cringing thinking about the horrible performance by unknown Dana Goodman, who plays awkwardly man-ish Carrie Mae. What was the director thinking? I'd say pull it WAY back, Goodman. Ughhh. On a small positive note, it was the first time we really got to see up-and-comer Rumer Willis (Bruce and Demi's eldest) and she was decent (but what a way to start your career). If you are looking for a funny sorority flick, Netflix "Legally Blonde" or "Pumpkin". Stay away from this hot mess.

Ginger of the Week

Jessica Chastain is pretty unknown at this point in her career, but you might recognize her soon. Born and raised in Northern California, Chastain made her way to New York to attend the prestigious school of the arts, Juilliard. Her first role was in a television movie adaptation entitled "Dark Shadows". She has done bit parts in shows like "Law and Order", "ER", and "Veronica Mars". She made her film debut in 2008's "Jolene", in which she played a teenage orphan who travels across country to experience life. Up next for the beautiful ginger: "The Tree of Life" (with Brad Pitt and Sean Penn), "The Fields" (with Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Sam Worthington), and "The Help" (with Viola Davis, Sissy Spacek, and Emma Stone).

Best Dressed - 2011 Golden Globes

Green seemed to be the color of the evening along with sparkling sequins and beautiful chiffon. Here's a look at our favorites and... least favorites from the 68th Golden Globe Awards.

OVERALL BEST LOOK:

Melissa Leo (stunning and perfect for her body and age), Halle Berry (this is her signature look and it always works), and Anne Hathaway (very chic and sexy)

BEST DRESS:

Mandy Moore (beautiful. Reminds me of a cross between Drew's baby blue number a couple of years back and Mary Louise Parker's blue stunner, which were both spectacular), Lea Michele (great color on her and great fit), Eva Longoria (very lovely cut and color)

BEST HAIR:

Olivia Wilde (best bangs look), Michelle Williams (best short look), Claire Danes (best up-do), January Jones (best classic style)

OVERALL WORST LOOK:

Helena Bonham Carter (the queen of bad), Christina Aguilera (ughhh), Jennifer Lopez (white eyeshadow... really?), Emma Stone (she's channeling Tilda Swinton's alien look. I hate when your dress, skin, and hair all match), Sandra Bullock (is she donning a wig?)

WORST DRESS:

Julianne Moore (the color is bad enough, but that damn puffy shoulder), Jennifer Lawrence (she did so well at the Critics' Choice Awards... what happened?), Amy Adams (she ALWAYS does this cut... boring and ugly and for goodness sake... change your hairdo every now and then), Angelina Jolie (why, Angie... why? Why didn't you have your hair done?), Natalie Portman (it would be great without that hideous flower and those red platform shoes)

WORST HAIR:

Mila Kunis (the big poof... I'm not a fan), Annette Bening (I think she is channeling Tim Burton), Scarlett Johansson (the slightly-to-the side look isn't working. Natalie tried that too and did it a little better. It just looks messy)

HONORABLE MENTION:

Catherine Zeta-Jones (would've won best overall if it weren't for the fabric of the dress. It's like a set of curtains.) and Katey Sagal (Best look over 50)

Piper Perabo (this would have looked perfect in a bold blue or red color) and Julia Stiles (very pretty dress that we've seen many times before. The hair is not working for me)
