Did You Know...

... Tom Hanks has turned down the title role in "Jerry Maguire" (went to Tom Cruise) , the part of 'Ray' in "Field of Dreams" (went to Kevin Costner), and 'Andy' in "The Shawshank Redemption" (went to Tim Robbins). I guess when you're that big, you can turn down good roles.

Oscar Photos

Back at the 1989 ceremony, there seemed to be a lot of not-so-famous
actors who dated one another (but were destined for failure as a couple)

Sarah Jessica Parker and Robert Downey, Jr. dated
for years before either was very famous.

Drew Barrymore and Corey Feldman were an item.
Drew had a stalled career and Feldman was nearing
the end of his fame.

Martha Plimpton and Oscar nominee River Phoenix
were sweet on each other, but broke up soon afterwards.

Tom Cruise (who was already famous, but not a mega
star) was actually married to Mimi Rogers at this point.
Strange match. They divorced in 1990.

Fun Shoots

I wanna be very clear... I am not a fan of 'Tomkat'. Tom Cruise was a terrific actor and I'm sure he'll be one again someday. Katie Holmes is fine. She was annoying in "Dawson's Creek", adequate in "Go" and "Batman Begins", and showed some real signs of talent in "Pieces of April". I'm just not a fan of the craze of Tom and Katie together in Hollywood. Their personal life is just that, personal... and I don't care how many kids they have or what they do in their spare time.

I do, however, like the spread that they did in The New York Times Style Magazine.
