Brit of the Week

Lucy Punch (Dec. 30, 1977) was born in London. She started her career early when she decided to join the National Youth Theatre. After that she tried her hand at college, attending University College London, but dropped out to pursue acting full time. She made her debut in a 1998 episode of "The New Adventures of Robin Hood". Since then she has appeared in "Greenfingers", "Ella Enchanted", "Hot Fuzz", "Dinner for Schmucks", and "You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger". Up next for the funny lady: "Bad Teacher" (with Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel), "A Little Bit of Heaven" (with Kate Hudson and Gael Garcia Bernal), and "Take Me Home Tonight" (with Anna Faris and Topher Grace).

Quote of the Day

(an alien bug is crawling inside Harry's leg)
Dr. Reed: What are you gonna do?
Dr. Paulson: We might have to amputate.
Harry: Whoa, Doc! Don't take the leg! Ira, don't let them take my leg.
Ira: Isn't there anything else you can do? He thinks he's an athlete.
Nurse: Doctor, look!
Dr. Paulson: It's headed for his testicles.
Harry: Take it! Take it! Take the leg!

Did You Know...

... that actress Merle Oberon (who gained fame in the 1930s in such roles as "Wuthering Heights" and "The Scarlet Pimpernel") told everyone that her Indian mother was her maid to hide the fact that she was of mixed race. What a way to treat your momma!

Performance of the Day

Actor: TIM CURRY
Film: "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"
Character: Dr. Frank-N-Furter
Year: 1975

With all the recent hype of "Glee" and their tribute episode of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show", I found time to catch the original for the first time in years. I remembered thinking British-born Tim Curry was great, but I didn't recall how flawless his performance was. Curry created a gem of a role in Dr. Frank-N-Furter, from his masterful makeup (that would make RuPaul jealous) to his scandalous lingerie . He's larger than life in the role that made him a cult legend. It's safe to say that Tim Curry IS Dr. Frank-N-Furter and no one will ever be able to fill his platform shoes.

Quote of the Day

"Well I'm gonna to go then! And I don't need any of this. I don't need this stuff, and I don't need you. I don't need anything. Except this. And that's the only thing I need is this. I don't need this or this. Just this ashtray... And this paddle game. - The ashtray and the paddle game and that's all I need... And this remote control. - The ashtray, the paddle game, and the remote control, and that's all I need... And these matches. - The ashtray, and these matches, and the remote control, and the paddle ball... And this lamp. - The ashtray, this paddle game, and the remote control, and the lamp, and that's all I need. And that's all I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The paddle game and the chair, and the remote control, and the matches for sure. Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need. The ashtray, the remote control, the paddle game, and this magazine, and the chair. And I don't need one other thing, except my dog. [dog growls at him] I don't need my dog."

Ginger of the Week

Laura Prepon hasn't been seen in much lately, but back in the early 2000s, she was a television queen. Born in New Jersey to a school teacher and a surgeon, Prepon studied at the Caroline Thomas' Total Theater Lab in New York City. She got her big break after moving to Los Angeles and landing the role of 'Donna' on "That '70s Show" in 1998. During the eight seasons of the show, Prepon took other roles, like that of the title character in the small film 'Karla' (the true story of a married couple who murdered women). Since the end of "That '70s Show", she's done several guest spots of television shows ("Medium", "House", and "In Plain Sight").

Performance of the Day

Actor: JARED LETO
Film: "Switchback"
Character: Lane Dixon
Year: 1997

Taking some time off from his weird antics and even weirder hairdos, Jared Leto starred in 1997's "Switchback", about two men traveling through a blizzard while a serial killer is on the loose. Leto was great, and as hot as ever, in the role of 'Lane'. The film is pretty good and will definitely keep you guessing.

Flick of the Day

Film: POLTERGEIST
Director: Tobe Hooper
Actors: Craig T. Nelson, JoBeth Williams, Beatrice Straight, Zelda Rubenstein, Heather O'Rourke, Dominque Dunne
Year: 1982

Synopsis: A little girl disappears and a family believes she was taken by spirits.

Most horror films are pathetic. Their only point is to give the audience a series of cheap thrills. Once in a blue moon, a great horror film comes out and 1982's "Poltergeist" is proof of that. Steven Spielberg produced this well written story of a family who is terrorized by ghosts. See it!

Candid of the Week

Angelina Jolie, Brittany Murphy, and Winona Ryder
celebrate the release of their film, "Girl, Interrupted", 1999

Performance of the Day

Actor: ROBYN LIVELY
Film: "Teen Witch"
Character: Louise
Year: 1989

It's cheese to the max, but you'll have a blast watching 1989's "Teen Witch". Robyn Lively (Blake's older sister) plays Louise, an ordinary girl who discovers she's a witch. The best scene by far: the corny rap that Noah Blake (son of Robert) does. Happy 39th birthday Robyn!

Performance of the Day

Actor: RICHARD JENKINS
Film: "Eat Pray Love"
Character: Richard
Year: 2010

Richard Jenkins may be very well known for his comedic roles ("One Night at McCool's" and "Step Brothers"), but he sure knows how to do drama. In 2010's "Eat Pray Love", Jenkins costars as Richard, a troubled man on a quest of forgiveness in India. His performance is moving and deep and if you don't tear up... well, you may be an emotionless hole.

Flick of the Day

Film: THE PRICE OF MILK
Director: Harry Sinclair
Actors: Karl Urban, Danielle Cormack, Willa O'Neill, Michael Lawrence, Rangi Motu
Year: 2000

Synopsis: A woman tries to anger her extremely nice boyfriend.

If you are up for a strange, wacky film... this would be the right one for you. Hailing all the way from New Zealand, "The Price of Milk" follows young Lucinda and her fiance Rob. Thinking things are going too good, Lucinda decides to start a fight. Things get a little crazy when Lucinda runs over an old lady. It's weird and odd and sooooo entertaining.

Double Take

English-born Rebecca Hall looks a lot like Scottish-born Pollyanna McIntosh.

*** Rebecca Hall is known for her roles in "The Town", "Vicky Cristina Barcelona", and "Please Give". Pollyanna McIntosh is best known for "The Exam", "Burke and Hare", and "Sex and Death 101".

Ginger of the Week

American actor Rose McGowan was born in Florence, Italy. She spent her early childhood living in communes (her parents were members of the Children of God). McGowan moved to the northwest part of the US when she was ten (she didn't speak English at the time). At fifteen, she emancipated herself from her parents and set out to become a star. She started with a bit role in 1992's "Encino Man" and followed that up with a role in "The Doom Generation" (and a subsequent Spirit award nomination). It was her portrayal of 'Tatum' in 1996's blockbuster hit, "Scream", that got her the recognition she was looking for. She has since starred in the television show "Charmed" for five seasons, played another famous red-head, Ann-Margret, in the mini-series "Elvis", and starred in Robert Rodriguez' "Planet Terror". Up next is a role in "Conan the Barbarian".
