Flick of the Day

Film: MY COUSIN VINNY
Director: Jonathan Lynn
Actors: Joe Pesci, Marisa Tomei, Ralph Macchio, Lane Smith, Mitchell Whitfield, Fred Gwynne, Bruce McGill, Maury Chaykin
Year: 1992

Synopsis: Two guys, who are put on trial for murder and robbery, rely on their seemingly-clueless cousin Vinny.

This is one of my favorite comedies of all time. Joe Pesci (in a role that deserved an Oscar nomination) is Vinny Gambini, a New York attorney, who is ready for his first case. Marisa Tomei (who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress) is flawless as gum-smacking, auto-savvy, Mona Lisa Vito. The laughs start the minute the movie starts and last all the way through.

"Imagine you're a deer. You're prancing along. You get thirsty. You spot a little brook. You put your little deer lips down to the cool, clear water... BAM!!!! A fuckin' bullet rips off part of your head! Your brains are laying on the ground in little bloody pieces. Now I ask ya, would you give a f**k what kind of pants the son of a bitch who shot you was wearing?" Mona Lisa Vito
