Performance of the Day

Actor: KIERAN CULKIN

Film: "Igby Goes Down"

Character: Igby

Year: 2002

Long in the shadow of his older brother Macaulay, Kieran seemingly came out of nowhere in 2002 with this fantastic performance. As Igby, a rebellious, sarcastic rich kid who runs away from home to live in the wilds of New York City, Culkin draws you in and keeps you highly entertained. He holds his own amid wonderful performances, specifically by Susan Sarandon and Jeff Goldblum.

Flick of the Day

Film: UNCLE BUCK

Director: John Hughes

Actors: John Candy, Jean Louisa Kelly, Gaby Hoffmann, Macaulay Culkin, Amy Madigan, Laurie Metcalf

Year: 1989

Synopsis: A wacky bachelor helps out his estranged brother and sister-in-law.

Funny guy John Candy was at his best in this hilarious film about a man trying to take care of his nieces and nephew for a few weeks. The cast is great, but it's youngsters Gaby Hoffmann and Macaulay Culkin who have some of the best lines. One of the best scenes: Buck preparing a giant pancake (that he has to flip with a shovel).
