Did You Know...

... the title of Miss Golden Globe is historically given to a child of a celebrity.

Laura Dern was Miss Golden Globe in 1983 (she's the daughter of actors Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd). She then won her very own Globe in 1993 (Best Actress (tv movie) - "Afterburn")... and again in 2009 (Best Actress (tv movie) - "Recount").

Melanie Griffith was Miss Golden Globe in 1976 (she's the daughter of actors Tippi Hedren and Peter Griffith). She won a Globe in 1989 (Best Actress (film) - "Working Girl").

Anne Archer was Miss Golden Globe in 1972 (she's the daughter of actors Marjorie Lord and John Archer). She was nominated for Best Actress (film) - "Fatal Attraction" in 1988 and won a special Globe for Best Ensemble - "Short Cuts" in 1994.

Joely Fisher was Miss Golden Globe in 1993 (she's the daughter of singer Eddie Fisher and actor Connie Stevens). She was nominated for Best Supporting Actress (tv) - "Ellen" in 1998.

Freddie Prinze, Jr. was Mr. Golden Globe in 1997 (he is the son of comedian/actor Freddie Prinze).

Other notables: Actors Rumer Willis (daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore), Lorraine Nicholson (daughter of Jack Nicholson), and Dakota Johnson (daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith - making her a 2nd generation Miss Golden Globe).

Reincarnations

Some people are going to disagree, but I think Lindsay Lohan might be the modern day Demi Moore. I know what you are thinking. It's an insult to compare Demi today with Lindsay today. What you might not know is Demi went through her own drug and alcohol problems in the late 80s (and it nearly ended her career. She was almost fired from "St. Elmo's Fire"). Fortunately for her, she got her act together and hopefully La Vida Lohan will too (although it isn't looking promising). If that doesn't convince you, check out the similar features (the green eyes and tiny nose) and that raspy voice. Oh, and both come from highly dysfunctional, low-class families.

Did You Know...

... 80s mega star Molly Ringwald turned down the lead roles in 1990's "Pretty Woman" and "Ghost", the movies that made movie stars out of Julia Roberts and Demi Moore. I can imagine Ringwald is still kicking herself for that. Especially considering that in 1990 she starred in "Strike it Rich" (I haven't heard of it either). Big mistake... huge!

MisMatched

Actor: DEMI MOORE
Film: "The Scarlet Letter"
Character: Hester
Year: 1995

"The Scarlet Letter" is generally regarded as one of the worst movies ever, but I think that's wrong. The worst thing about this flick is the decision to cast Demi Moore in the main role of Hester Prynne. She absolutely doesn't work. She's too modern. She seems uncomfortable and I wasn't feeling the chemistry between leading man Gary Oldman and herself. It was a bad choice and one of her worst performances (and she did "Striptease" and "The Juror").

Did You Know...

... producers of 1983's "Flashdance" had their search, for the lead character of Alex, down to two unknown actors; Jennifer Beals and Demi Moore. In order to get their girl, they showed pictures of the two to a group of local construction workers and asked, "who would you rather have sex with?" Guess who won!
