Did You Know...

... the role of Dolores/Sister Mary Clarence was written for Bette Midler. When she turned down the offer, Whoopi Goldberg stepped up to the plate. A wise choice for the comedienne because the film went on to gross more than $230 million worldwide, making Goldberg one of the biggest stars of 1992. She scored a $7 million dollar payday for the sequel, "Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit".
