Did You Know...

... Warren Beatty turned down the role of 'Jack Horner' and Leonardo DiCaprio turned down the role of 'Dirk Diggler' in "Boogie Nights". The parts, of course, went to Burt Reynolds (who garnered a Best Supporting Golden Globe and Best Supporting Oscar nomination) and Mark Wahlberg, respectively. I wonder how that would have changed the film.

***Apparently Jack Nicholson, Al Pacino, John Travolta, Matt Dillon, and Joaquin Phoenix were considered for roles.

22 Best Dance Scenes

Film: SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER
Director: John Badham
Actors: John Travolta, Karen Lynn Gorney, Barry Miller,
Joseph Cali, Donna Pescow, Paul Pape, Martin Shakar
Year: 1977

This is Travolta's 3rd time on this list and it's definitely his best scene. There were a bunch of cool dance sequences in this flick, but the one that stands out is the one Travolta did solo. He proves he doesn't need a partner to light up the dance floor. Amazing!!!!

22 Best Dance Scenes

Film: GREASE
Director: Randal Kleiser

Stockard Channing, Didi Conn, Jamie Donnelly, Dinah Manoff,
Barry Pearl, Michael Tucci, Kelly Ward, Eve Arden, Sid Caesar,
Frankie Avalon, Joan Blondell
Year: 1978

This movie is a full-fledged dance-a-thon, but I've always been partial to the "Born to Hand-Jive" sequence. Travolta and Newton-John do a great little number to this catchy oldie and you will find yourself tapping along to the beat.

One of the greatest indie films ever gave us one of the greatest dance scenes ever. Tarantino directed Uma Thurman and John Travolta in a little dance to Chuck Berry's "You Never Can Tell" and their careers skyrocketed.

It's the ultimate high school musical. John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John became international superstars when this fun film was released. It still has the honor of being the highest grossing musical of all time.

Skip It

Film: BE COOL
Director: F. Gary Gray
Actors: John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Vince Vaughn, Harvey Keitel, Danny DeVito, Christina Milian, Andre Benjamin, Dwayne Johnson, Cedric the Entertainer, Steven Tyler, James Woods, Debi Mazar
Year: 2005

Synopsis: Movie producer (and former gangster) Chili Palmer looks to make a move into the music business by signing a new hot singer.

Despite the fact that it's the sequel to 1995's blockbuster "Get Shorty" with an all-star cast to boot, "Be Cool" is a real stinker. The presence of John Travolta and Uma Thurman (trying desperately to relive their "Pulp Fiction" glory) can't save this turkey (gobble, gobble). The supporting cast is bad (mostly Christina Milian, The Rock, and Andre 3000), the ads are boring (a poster of Andre entitled "Be Bad", Milian with "Be Famous", The Rock with "Be Yourself" and of course Travolta with "Be Cool". CORNY!!), and more importantly, the story sucks. Take a pass on this and netflix "Get Shorty" instead.
